Profile and appearance

Set your timezone, writing rules and reminders in Settings > Profile, and the look of Jackdaw in Settings > Appearance.

Profile

Open Settings > Profile, change what you need, and save. The line at the top shows today’s date and time in your current settings, so you can check the format.

Setting What it does
Photo, Avatar Your picture in the header. A photo wins over the generated avatar.
Site name, Peer name The name in the header’s top left, and the brain’s peer identity in the header centre.
Speciality, What this brain is for The brain’s kind, and a sentence or two on its main use. Every assistant reads that sentence at the start of each conversation.
House style Your writing rules, in your own words, for example “never use exclamation marks”. Every agent follows them in replies, pages, tables and emails.
Timezone (IANA) What “tomorrow at 3pm” means, when quiet hours start, and how dates show. For example Africa/Johannesburg.
Locale (BCP-47) Date, number and currency format. For example en-GB. It does not change the reply language.
Reminder delivery Telegram or the mobile app.
Event reminders from Which agent’s Telegram bot sends reminders.
Live thinking & streaming Watch the assistant’s steps and the reply as it is written.
Thinking effort How hard agents set to Inherit reason before they answer. Needs live thinking on. Higher costs more.

Get the timezone right first. A wrong timezone raises no error, but every reminder lands at the wrong hour. You can change it in chat while you travel: “I’m in London this week, update my timezone.”

Appearance

Open Settings > Appearance. Changes apply as you click.

  • Mode: Light, Dark or System.
  • Color theme: a full palette for the whole app. Filter the list by name.
  • Fonts: the interface font, the wordmark, the peer name, and the font for pages and notes, each with its own size.
  • Avatar style and Logo: how generated avatars are drawn, and your brand mark.
  • Backgrounds: generated backdrops for the menu, header, chat and activity column. Each can be off. They take their colours from the theme.

Pick a theme by contrast. Success, warning and error colours should be easy to tell apart.
